Development and Evaluation of Stemming Algorithms

This Project implements two stemming algorithms (Stemmers) in a single language multi-platform web enabled environment. This is in order that they can be compared and contrasted for an overall fair evaluation. The Project also addresses issues relating to the further development of these stemming algorithms for general use in any system, or so that they could be refined for operating in a system for a specific purpose. This is made possible through making alterations to their rule set in order to ‘fine tune’ the Stemmer to a specific application. Finally, the Project provides a set of evaluation methods in order to assess the performance of the Stemmers after their implementation.
